27-28 Sept: Team alerted to an incident on the Western slopes of Maamtrasna mountain off the Westport Leenaune road, where it was reported a man had fallen a considerable distance down a steep slope and had sustained fatal injuries. Team mobilised for initial search at approximately 1730 hours and an area of valley searched with the guidance of the casualties brother who had been accompanying him at time of fall. Search suspended at 2130 due to poor light and search conditions. Search resumed at 0700 and Coast Guard helicopter tasked but unable to assist after initial recce due to high winds and low cloud cover. Casualty located at 0930 by MMRT advance party, local guide and two of the casualties brothers, in steep ground approximately 700m West of the summit of Maamtrasna. Stretcher party reached the location at 1100 hrs and technical rope procedure undertaken to remove casualty to lower ground. Body stretchered off mountain by stretcher party and removed to MGH for post mortem. Incident closed down at 1630 hrs.

26 Sept: Team alerted to incident involving young male on cone of Croagh Patrick who had sustained a hip injury in a fall. Casualty stretched off Cone to MMRT base and removed to MGH for further treatment.

19 Sept: Team on standby and checkpoint duties for the Mweelrea stage of the September leg of the Focus Ireland 4 peaks challenge. Climb conducted in perfect conditions and no incidents to report.

18 Sept: Team alerted to a female in her 70's who had got into difficulties on Croagh Patrick. Coast Guard Helicopter tasked to assist and airlifted the casualty off mountain for removal to MGH.

13 Sept: Team returning from training in Achill alerted to a female who had sustained a lower leg injury on the cone of Croagh Patricklate in the evening. Stretcher team mobilised and stretchered the casualty off the mountain to Murrisk car park in the dark for removal to MGH.

5 Sept: Team alerted to a female who had sustained a lower leg injury on the cone of Croagh Patrick. First response Team encountered casualty in the valley area being assisted in descending by some friends. First response team treated casualty and assisted her to descend to car park.

23 Aug: Team on standby at MR base for annual Gael Force Adventure Race alerted to a male who had sustained an ankle injury on descent of the Croagh Patrick leg of the race. Stretcher party mobilised and casualty removed to base for transfer to MGH by ambulance. Multiple other minor injuries, sprains, blisters and other non serious ailments of compeditors treated by team at base. Four members of the team also competed in the race.

15 Aug: Team alerted to a male in his 50's reported to be in cardiac arrest at the summit of Croagh Patrick. First response Team and stretcher party mobilised as well as Coast Guard Helicopter. Casualty airlifted off mountain but died later in MGH.

12 Aug: Team alerted to 60 yr old female who had sustained a lower leg injury on the saddle of Croagh Patrick. Casualty stretched off to Murrisk Car Park and removed to MGH for further treatment.

11 Aug: Team alerted to a female who had sustained a lower leg injury on Murrisk side of Reek, Casualty located, treated and assisted to walk off mountain to Murrisk car park.

8 Aug: Team involved in rescue of female who had sustained a head injury on Croagh Patrick. Coast Guard helicopter mobilised due to concerns about casualties stability and casualty airlifted off the mountain and removed to MGH

4 Aug: Team contacted by a member of the public in Belderg in North Mayo concerning a sheep who had fallen from the area around the viewing platform at the cliffs beside the Ceide Fields. Whilst assembling a first response team to investigate further we received a call back from original caller to say the sheep had since fallen off ledge some 150m to the sea below.

3 August: Galway MRT requested assistance of Mayo team in search for missing 87 year old male in the Moycullen area. Coast Guard helicopter also mobilised to assist in search. Casualty located safe and well.

26 July: REEK SUNDAY - Mayo MRT coordinated operations for 11 mountain rescue teams during the annaul Reek Sunday pilgrimage on Croagh Patrick. Teams dealt with 29 seperate incidents in total during the course of the day which were mainly related to the atrocious conditions with sheet rainfall and high winds on the mountain for much of the day. Many of the incidents involved young children suffering from extreme cold and wet in the unseasonal conditions. Other incidents included asthma and panic attacks, missing persons, walk offs, minors cuts, bruises, sprains and blisters. In additon the Order of Malta dealt with similar number of incidents on the Murrisk side of the mountain, the most serious of which was a male suffering from heart problems who was transferred to MGH by Air Corps helicopter. Relative to previous years the number of casualties was relatively low but this was probabaly due to the lesser numbers climbing estimated to be in the region of 18,000 to 20,000 climbers.

25 July: Team doing preperation work for Reek Sunday dealt with a female casualty who had sustained a leg injury on the Cone of Croagh Patrick. Casualty placed on a stretcher and removed to base for transfer to MGH. Also assisted a young female suffering from breathing difficulties.

20 July: Members of team on Croagh Patrick doing preperation work for Reek Sunday alerted by a husband near Murrisk base about concerns for his wife and a party of 7 including a 7 months pregnant woman and a 6 year old boy who had still not descended at 9.45pm. MMRT party on saddle located group and escorted them down to second MMRT party who ascended from Murrisk side and walked the party off the mountain arriving at car park at approximately 10.45pm.

19 July: Team alerted to casualty on Murrisk side of Croagh Patrick who had sustained a lower leg injury near the statue. Stretcher party mobilised to casualty and casualty removed to carpark for transfer to MGH for treatment for a suspected broken ankle.

16 July: Alert raised by members of a party who had set out to do the Mweelrea horseshoe from Doolough to Delphi to report that one of their members had got into difficulties on steep ground on the slopes of Mweelrea and that another member had remained on at bottom of a gulley to accompany and assist in locating casualty. Team mobilised to Delphi at 1800hrs and 4 search and rescue parties dispatched onto Mweelrea. Sligo Coast Guard helicopter tasked to assist in search and located casualty but unable to assist further due to low cloud cover. First response teams reached both parties who were tired but otherwise unhurt and able to proceed with assistance. Walk off completed at 2350hrs.

13 July: Team mobilised to casualty on Croagh Patrick who had got into difficulty on descent. First response team met up with casualty on Murrisk side of mountain and after establishing that casualty was fit to proceed, assisted the casualty on walk off. Rest of team stooddown.

30 June/1st July: Team mobilised to Doolough Valley after reports that a 50 yr old female had sustained head injuries after a fall on Mweelrea. First response team headed onto the mountain at approximately 19.30 hrs and made contact with the casualties husband at approximately 2200 hrs. Coast Guard Helicopter from Sligo tasked for search and possible airlift but stood down after about an hour due to diminishining light and low cloud cover. Stretcher party and search crew arrived at summit about 2300 hrs and commenced search of gulley where casualty was suspect to be.  Mayo Team conducted an all night search of suspected area of casualty location without success. Galway and SARDA teams tasked to assist in search at approximately 0100 hrs. Helicopter returned at first light and located casualty in another gulley approximately 500 metres from search location. Mayo and Galway teams accessed casualty by technical rope rescue and established that casualty had not survived the fall. Body recovered by teams to helicopter airlift area and airlifted off mountain by Coast Guard Helicopter. Operation wound down at approximately 1230.

20 June: Team mobilised for a TG4 documentary newspiece on Croagh Patrick. Simulated a rescue off the front of the mountain for TV crew.

17 June: Team mobilised to Croagh Patrick to an elderly American couple suffering difficulties on the descent. The female was suffering fatigue and injuries from a fall and because of concerns about her condition the assistance of the Coast Guard Helicopter was requested. Casualty airlifted of the mountain to MGH. Husband walked off the mountain by team.

29 May: First response team mobilised to Croagh Patrick to attend to a casualty with facial and arm lacerations. Casualty treated on mountain and walked off and brought to MGH for further treatment.

16 May: Team evacuated a casualty from front of Croagh Patrick to Murrisk by stretcher.

10 May: First response team mobilized to young female who got into difficulties on Croagh Patrick during descent and team put on standby. Helicopter mobilized due to concerns about detioriating condition of casualty. The casualty was airlifted off the mountain to MGH and remainder of team stood down.

4 May: Team alerted to middle aged female who was having difficulties descending Croagh Patrick. First response teams mobilized from base and Murrisk encountered casualty and assisting party above the gate and assisted in walk off.

3 May: Members of the team escorted a sponsored climb on Croagh Patrick and attended one casualty suffering minor cuts and bruises and assisted in walk off of one missing person.

30 April: Team mobilized to attend 16 year old female suffering fatigue and suspected back injury on Croagh Patrick. Casualty located in Valley area, immobilized using full body vacuum splint and stretchered off mountain for removal to MGH.

25 Apr: Mayo and Galway teams mobilized to Croagh Patrick for casualty on cone. Casualty stretchered off cone to Murrisk side and removed to MGH for further treatment.

6 Apr: Received a call from Westport Garda station regarding a 64 year old female who had started climbing the Reek at 1100hrs and her husband was anxious about her whereabouts. A hasty team was sent to the Murrisk side and she was located descending slowly. The team was stood down.

10-17 March: Members of team participated in various days of Croagh Patrick Seven Day challenge and provided support on the mountain. No major incidents encountered.

22 Feb: Westport Garda station alerted the team to a woman in distress on Croagh Patrick. A first response team met her and ensured she descended safely. While on the mountain, one of the team helped carry a young girl down to the base.

21 Feb: Team requested to assist in search for missing person in blow hole in North Mayo.

16 Feb: Mayo MRT were contacted by mobile phone from  a woman on Mweelrea who had become separated from her husband during descent of the mountain. A mist had descended and visibility was reduced and the caller was quite concerned. The Mayo Team Leader sent out a Team Standby and recontacted the woman again to confirm that a search party was being organized. However the mist had cleared by this time and the woman had reunited with her husband and they were continuing their descent and enjoying the scenery. Mayo team was stood down

10 Feb: MMRT requested by DW and GOI MRT's to assist in search for two missing climbers on Lugnacuilla mountain in Wicklow. 5 members of MMRT traveled to Wicklow to assist in search and eventual rescue of two missing climbers.

9 Feb: Team but on standby with regard to concerns over overdue climber at Croagh Patrick. Further inquiries led to team being stood down.

4 Jan: Mayo team mobilized to assist in search for missing person at Downpatrick Head in North Mayo. Team carry out a coastal search along 10km of coast line along the North Mayo coast.

1 Jan: Mayo Mountain Rescue Team involved in a successful search for 4 missing Dutch tourists who had become lost whilst walking the Letterkeen Loop walking trail in the Nephin Beg Mountain Range in North Mayo. The team were alerted by Gardai who had been contacted by the missing party shortly before 5pm. The tourists had experienced difficulty finding trail markers and, as darkness descended, had decided to retrace their route. Mayo Mountain Rescue team arrived at the trail head at approximately 6.45pm and dispatched a number of search teams. The tourists were located at approximately 7.25pm about 30 minutes from the trail head. Whilst all were cold and tired and hungry none of the party had sustained any injuries and had been relatively well equipped for the conditions with adequate clothing and footwear and torches. They were guided back to the trail head by the Mayo Mountain Rescue Team Search Party
