EQUIPMENT

TEAM MEMBERS WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO OPERATE ON THE MOUNTAIN WITHOUT THE FOLLOWING.

  • Rucksack (adequate to hold personal gear and possibly some team equipment so a capacity of. 45-55L)
  • Waterproof jacket/ Over trousers.
  • Hi Viz vest. - Team supplied
  • Mountain boots.
  • Helmet (with personal details, blood group etc) - Team supplied
  • Thermal layers.
  • Gloves/extra socks.
  • Warm hat or buff.
  • Fleece/down layers.. (you may be sitting in the cold/wet for extended periods)
  • Sling/Karibiner. - Team supplied
  • Personal first aid kit.
  • Fluid
  • Spare food (enough for 24hrs operation time on mountain)
  • Compass. (pref silva, type 4)
  • Bivvy bag (to be stowed when operating with helicopter)
  • Ground mat/sleeping mat.
  • Head torch/spare battery/spare bulb.
  • Whistle.

The following are non essential but recommended.

  • Flask.
  • Pen/paper or Waterproof Paper + Pencil
  • Mobile phone (with at least one I.C.E. "In Case of Emergency" number.
  • Watch.
  • Gaiters.
  • Walking poles.
  • Emergency long life food rations (cling film wrapped)

Optional Equipment:

  • GPS
  • Digital Camera
  • Hand warmers
  • Water filter bottle
  • Cable ties
  • Spare laces
  • Cigarette Lighter
  • Needle and Thread

 

Remember:

  • My own safety comes first.
  • My teammates safety comes second.
  • Look out for both my own and teams safety.
  • Report any observed safety hazards.
  • If my health or fitness levels are poor, I tell the team leader
  • I am always appropriately dressed + equipped for the event in which I am taking part
